Getting Your Braces At Minick Orthodontics, Dr. Minick uses an advanced bonding technique called Indirect Bonding for the majority of cases. Indirect bonding significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to get your braces placed on the teeth. Traditional bonding techniques can take up to two hours whereas indirect bonding can be completed in approximately 30 minutes, saving you a tremendous amount of time and discomfort. Another potential advantage of indirect bonding is more accurate placement of braces, resulting in shortened treatment time and less repositioning of brackets later in treatment. Your bonding appointment typically takes 45 minutes to one hour. This includes 30 minutes to place the braces on the teeth and additional time to cover oral hygiene and care of braces and teeth. On bonding day, Dr. Minick will prepare the teeth by ensuring they are clean and dry. Custom prepared trays are then used to place all brackets on the teeth simultaneously. A non-ultraviolet light is then used to cure the brackets to the teeth using a tooth colored adhesive. The custom trays are then removed and the initial arch wire is placed in the brackets. Your braces then begin to do their work. |
